I. Overview

The electromagnetic flowmeter is a product that performs flow measurement based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. The flowmeter has high accuracy , minimal pressure loss, high reliability , and large measurable range. The ratio of the maximum flow to the minimum flow is generally 20:1 or more, and the industrial pipe diameter range is up to 3m. The output signal is linear with the measured flow rate, and can measure alkali, acid, salt solution, sewage with conductivity ≥5μs/cm. Corrosive liquids and fluid flows such as pulp, mud, pulp, etc.; flow measurements of pure water, steam, and gases are not possible. Electromagnetic flowmeters are widely used in medicine, food, chemical, electric power, metallurgy, papermaking and other industries.

Second, the working principle

When the conductor performs a cutting magnetic field motion in a magnetic field, an induced potential is generated, and the magnitude of the induced potential is proportional to the speed at which the conductor moves in the magnetic field perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field and the effective length in the magnetic field. Similarly, when a conductive fluid flows in a vertical direction in a magnetic field and cuts an inductive force line, an induced potential is also generated on the electrodes on both sides of the tube. The direction of the induced potential is determined by the right-hand rule, and the magnitude of the induced potential is determined by:

B——magnetic induction intensity T;

D——the inner diameter m of the measuring tube;

V——the average flow velocity m/s of the cross section of the measuring tube;

However, the volume flow rate qv is equal to the product of the flow velocity V of the fluid and the cross-sectional area of the pipe (πD2) / 4, and the formula (1) is substituted into the formula:

QV = (πD/4B)*Ex .....................................(2)

It can be seen from the above formula that when the pipe diameter D has been determined and the magnetic induction intensity B is kept constant, the measured volume flow rate is linear with the induced potential. If an electrode is inserted on each side of the pipe, the induced potential Ex can be introduced, and the magnitude of the potential can be measured to obtain the volume flow. According to the Faraday electromagnetic induction principle, a pair of detecting electrodes are mounted on the wall of the tube perpendicular to the axis of the measuring tube and the magnetic line of force. When the conductive liquid moves along the axis of the measuring tube, the conductive liquid cuts the magnetic line to generate an induced potential, and the induced potential is detected by two detecting electrodes, and the magnitude is proportional to the flow rate, and the value is:

K——a constant related to the distribution of the magnetic field and the axial length;

B——magnetic induction strength;

V——the average flow rate of the conductive liquid;

D——electrode spacing (measuring inner diameter)

The sensor transmits the induced potential E as a flow signal to the converter, and after being processed by amplification, conversion filtering, etc., the dot matrix liquid crystal with backlight is used to display the instantaneous flow rate and the accumulated flow rate. The converter is outputted by 4-20mA, alarm output and frequency output, and has RS-485 communication interface, and supports HART and MODBUS protocols.
